Large single crystal of Almandine replaced by Chamosite (the iron analogue of Clinochlore in the Chlorite group of minerals) from the upper peninsula of Michigan. A complete crystal in good condition with good size too, as most found were less than 3cm. The old label indicates it was in the Paul Zimmerman collection and identified it as 'Aphrosiderite' after Garnet, however Aphrosiderite is an obsolete name and Chamosite is the correct species name.
