Andradite garnet crystals that has been replaced by Quartz on an Epidote matrix. The replacment of Andradite by Epidote is more common at this locality, and often times the crystals will be found alternating between red Andradite, green Epidote, and white Quartz all the way to the core of the crystal, like rings on a tree. Examples of solid Quartz after Andradite such as this are much less common. Just released from the personal collection of the field collector who held this piece for many years due to it's rarity and quality.
