Fossil tree sap containing a large number of well preserved wood boring insects and flying insects. The large wings of one insect are particulalry well preserved. Like amber, copal is fossilzed tree sap, though younger in age.
This copal is from the tree species Hymenaea verrucosa and believed to be from the Quaternary Period.
