Fossilized tree sap containing inclusions of well preserved insects. There are all kinds of bugs in here including small flying insects, wood boring insects, and a well preserved fly 6mm long, plus all kinds of legs and other partial creatures. Copal is similar to amber, but younger in age. This copal is from the tree species Hymenaea verrucosa and believed to be from the Quaternary Period. Polished on all sides, what's not to like about prehistoric bugs in Copal?
