Opal after Bamboo

Black opal that has completely replaced a section of fossil Bamboo from recent finds in Java. It has a bright play of color on one side and also shows fine detail of the former bamboo. These were found in the past 2 years and are uncommon. You can find the color on the outside surfaces of many of these, but what makes this piece uncommon and much rarer than most is the pinfire color visible on both ends, indicating that there is play of color inside the entire specimen!
