Good sized, well formed and fairly isolated crystals of Liroconite to 6mm on matrix. The color ranges from intense blue to a more greenish blue. There are at least six larger crystals on the specimen with additional small crystals. One of the crystals was found to 'wiggle' a bit during the cleaning process and was stabilized underneath with a tiny dot of adhesive (not visible). Liroconite is a rare copper species with the best specimens found at this mine, which is also the type locality for the species. Wheal Gorland began operation in 1792 and the best Liroconite specimens were found in the mid 1800s. The combination of rarity and beauty keep these in high demand and they are only rarely available for sale, usually when an old collection is recycled.
