Prehnite on Tanzanite

Fine and aesthetic Tanzanite crystal with a double tipped termination. The color on the front face is a very rich purple with a blue color when viewed through the narrow face. This is an unheated, natural Tanzanite with a red coloration when viewed up the C-axis (viewed from the top down with a light shining up from the bottom; a strong back light in one photo shows some of the red bouncing around inside). Many websites advertise their Tanzanites as natural and unheated simply because there is dichroism present (the purple and blue color change), however Tanzanite is naturally trichroic and the presence of dichroism is not proof a crystal is unheated. Heating destroys the trichroism but leaves a more enhanced dichroic purple and blue crystal. This crystal has a bonus of two blue Prehnite crystals attached to the backside and a cluster of Prehnite and small Tanzanites on the right side. The crystal is complete and undamaged with the esception of a couple of the small Tanzanites in the attached cluster. Overall this is a really good one that stands out among similarly sized Tanzanites.
