Large octahedral Alabandite crystal from recent finds at Merelani. These new Alabandites are HUGE by worldwide standards (identified just this year from a specimen I submitted for analyses). To put these in context, Alabandite found a couple years ago in Peru, with crystals to only 2.5cm, were considered mind blowing for their large size and were selling for over $10,000. This one here at auction is 4cm!!! And they have been found even bigger. It is a partial crystal with the bottom being a smooth cleavage surface.
